Convert an invoice

As printed on the invoice, without the currency sign.

The day the amount was charged. The monthly methods use its month.

Methods

What the three methods mean

  • Rate of the day

The ECB rate published on the charge date. A weekend or a holiday has no publication, so it takes the last one before it.

  • Monthly average

The mean of the daily rates published in the month. A finance team uses it to state a month's spend at one rate; it is the product's default.

  • Month-end rate

The last rate published on or before the month's last day, the rate a month-end close often uses.

Providers

How the providers convert a bill themselves

What each provider's own documentation states, read on 15 October 2026. None of these pages names the ECB as its source, so an invoice in euro can differ from the figures above.

  • AWS

AWS lets you choose a supported currency for your invoices; its billing guide does not state which exchange rate it uses. Its AWS Marketplace buyer guide states that Marketplace conversions use Bloomberg's daily exchange rates at the time of invoicing, and the rate of the last day of the month for consolidated pay-as-you-go invoices.

  • Microsoft Azure

Under a Microsoft Customer Agreement, Azure is priced in US dollars and billed in the currency of the billing address. Microsoft converts at London closing spot rates captured in the two business days before the last business day of the previous month, and that rate applies to every transaction of the month.

  • Google Cloud

Google Cloud converts its US dollar prices into the currency of the Cloud Billing account, which cannot be changed after the account is created, at conversion rates published by leading financial institutions, set at the beginning of every month.

Data

Sources and dates

Every figure names its source and its date. Prices are the providers' public list prices before VAT and before any discount. Euro and pound figures are calculated by Costfluent from the euro foreign exchange reference rates of the European Central Bank (ECB). Costfluent is not affiliated with the cloud providers.
